At the end of 1942 the SDB PCSI was reformed into the Maritime Research Institute No. 1 (MRI No.1). Initially when establishing the SDB PCSI it was entrusted to work in the sphere of mine and torpedo weapon development.

In august, 1945 on the basis of Order of People's Commissariat of the Shipbuilding Industry there was established the Leningrad subsidiary of SDB. The field of works and the structure of the Leningrad SDB subsidiary were analogous to the bureau in Moscow. During the Great Patriotic War and post-war years the MRI No.1 developed several dozens of the most sophisticated at the time fire control systems for torpedo and artillery weapon; almost all types of ships were equipped with these systems. Subsequently the research engineering and experimental works carried out by MRI No.1 allowed creating fire control systems that ensured safe launching of cruise missiles from different types of ships and under any weather conditions on sea.

In 1960 MRI No.1 was reformed into the Central Maritime Research Institute.

In 1972 the Central Research Institute Agat was established (CRI Agat). The main guidelines of CMRI and then of CRI Agat were the development of digital means for computer engineering meant for different sea objects and the creation on its basis the automated control system for the submarines and surface ships combat actions.

In 1978 on the basis of Central Research Institute Agat was formed Scientific Production Association Agat (SPA Agat). It included CRI Agat, Pilot plant Agat, Subsidiary of CRI Agat in Erevan and Erevan instrument engineering plant Bazalt. SPA Agat was awarded with the Order of Lenin for the outstanding success in strengthening the defence capability of the country and efficient work under development of radioelectronic weapon for the Navy.

In 2004 in accordance with the Russian Federation Presidential Decree No. 134 dated February 3, 2004, "About Concern Morinformsystem-Agat Joint Stock Company, on the basis of SPA Agat FSUE there was formed the Concern Morinformsystem-Agat JSC that included the Scientific Production Association Mars, the Central Research Institute Kurs, the Production Association Binom and the Research and Production Enterprise Kaluga Instrument-Making Plant Typhoon".

In 2007 in accordance with the Russian Federation Presidential Decree No. 397 dated March 21, 2007, "About the development of Concern Morinformsystem-Agat Joint Stock Company, in Concern Morinformsystem-Agat JSC there were included Production Association Kometa, Research and Production Firm Meridian, Plant Izumrud, Design Bureau Ametist, Plant Topaz and Plant Salyut".
